Statutory rape in the making?

May 16 - Today a lovely couple in the world of Pinoy cosplay will celebrate their first anniversary. You may remember them as the subject of a blind item about a young female cosplayer who is having trouble with her boyfriend over five years her senior.

That's right, I'm talking about cosplay gem and the man with a big nose (and a Honda Jazz).

According to my trusted sources, cosplay gem confessed that she would only consider giving her virginity to her boyfriend on their first anniversary. By that time, cosplay gem is still below 18 years old while mister big nose is nearing his mid 20s. Should they have sex, even with cosplay gem's approval, mister big nose is punishable by law.

According to the Republic Act 7610 article III, section 5 on Child Prostitution and Other Sexual Abuse:

Children, whether male or female, who for money, profit, or any other consideration or due to the coercion or influence of any adult, syndicate or group, indulge in sexual intercourse or lascivious conduct, are deemed to be children exploited in prostitution and other sexual abuse.

R.A. 7610 defines "children" as "persons below eighteen (18) years of age or those over but are unable to fully take care of themselves or protect themselves from abuse, neglect, cruelty, exploitation or discrimination because of a physical or mental disability or condition."

Should anyone report that a sexual act is indeed committed between an adult and a child, the perpetrator is already liable for charges. Hopefully, they do it in costume so we'll have our first cosplay rape case in the country.
