Yesterday, I was able to meet with an old cinematographer friend and catch up with things. One of our discussions was about the late Joey Gosiengfiao, who he had a chance of working with a couple of times when my friend was still in Regal. He made it clear that he wasn't a big fan, saying Gosiengfiao was too lazy to make films of grander scale that took more effort than cheap porn. He also said it was commonly believed Joey was gay.
I don't know much about Gosiengfiao's personal life, but I must say he had some pretty cool titles under his belt. There's Masarap, masakit ang magmahal, 14 Going Steady, Tender Age, and Lulubog lilitaw sa ilalim ng tulay just to name a few.
To give you an idea, here are some highlights of Joey Gosiengfiao's illustrious film career.
